NEWPORT NEWS - Novell M. Coffey, 78, a Peninsula resident for 52 years, died Monday, June 28. 

A native of Roanoke, Mr. Coffey retired in 1980 as a welder after 40 years at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a member of Church of the Brethren, Hampton. 

Survived by two stepdaughters, Patricia B. Hudson and Jeanne Creed of Hampton; two stepsons, Stephen Bailey of Williamsburg and Robert Bailey of Newport News; two sisters, Mildred DeBord and Louise Staton of Spring Hill, Fla.; two brothers, Moda Coffey of Roanoke and Wilford Coffey of High Point, N.C.; eight step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. 

Graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. Carl Holland.

Helen died at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA on 4 February 1959 of ovarian cancer and was buried at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, VA on 7 February 1959 .29568,29569,29570

Novell Millard Coffey and Lois Wingo Bailey were married on 10 March 1962 at the Church of Christ in Newport News, VA.29571 Lois Wingo Bailey, daughter of Bud Wingo and Emma Lee Ridgeway, was born circa 1923 in Roanoke, VA.
