Coffey, James - age 76, of Rt. 1, New Tazewell, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center August 22, Member of Lone Holly Baptist Church. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Oneil Baker Coffey, New Tazewell; son, Jim Jr. Coffey, Knoxville; daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Ellis, Mrs. Janice Stevens, Knoxville, Mrs. Betty Hopper, Mrs. Shirley Moyers, Kokomo, Ind., Mrs. Linda Harville, Mrs. Pamela Barnes, West Carrolton, Ohio; step-son, Bruce Love, Tazewell; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Dee Coffey, Rutledge, Rev. Sam Coffey, New Tazewell; sisters, Mrs. Thulah Harrell, Jefferson City, Mrs. Tina Love, New Tazewell. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. His daughter, Pam Coffey Harness, reports that he had only the letter A as a middle name.

James A. Coffey Sr. and Georgia DeLozier were married circa 1926 in Tennessee. They appeared in the census on 13 May 1940 in Tazewell, Claiborne Co., TN.38435 Georgia DeLozier, daughter of James W. DeLozier and Mathada Hale, was born on 22 February 1911 in Tennessee. Georgia died of a brain abscess on 19 September 1946 at the age of 35 at home in New Tazewell, Claiborne Co., TN and was buried at McGinnis-Harrell Cemetery in Thorn Hill, Grainger Co., TN.38436,38437,38438

COFFEY, MR. JAMES J. - age 72, of New Tazewell, Tenn. was born December 27, 1927 and passed away August 26, 2000 at 4:15 a.m. at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Lone Holly Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Georgia (Delozier) Coffey; step mother, Oneil Coffey. He is survived by his wife, Frances Coffey of New Tazewell, Tenn.; son and daughter in law, James Billy and Sheila Coffey of Rocky Mount, NC; grandson, Aaron Coffey of Rocky Mount, NC; granddaughter, Lori Coffey of Greenville, SC; step daughters, Dorothy LeFevers of New Tazewell, Tenn., Samantha Norris of Rome, Ga.; step grandson, Jackson LeFevers of New Tazewell, Tenn.; sisters, Geraldine Ellis of Knoxville, Tenn., Betty Hopper of Kokomo, Ind., Shirley Moyers of Kokomo, Ind.; half sisters, Linda Harville of Carrollton, Ohio, Janice Stephens of Knoxville, Tenn., Pam Harness of Carrollton, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2000 at the Claiborne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday August 28, 2000 at the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Baker and Rev. Lonnie D. Dalton officiating. Music by J.C. and Mary Greer. Burial in the McGinnis/Harrell Cemetery in Grainger County. Pallbearers: Ralph Sharp, Mike Sharp, Bernard Coffey, Glen Neely, Rusty Neely, Richard Neely, Dennis Shipley and Estle Poore. Claiborne Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
