1721. Wesley W. Coffey6499 was born on 13 December 1843 in Clay Twp., Owen Co., IN.6500 He lived with his brother-in-law William Stogsdill in Ellettsville, Clay Twp., Owen Co., IN on 19 June 1860. He enlisted in 1861 in Co. H, 14th Indiana Volunteers in Clay Co., IN.6501 He appeared on the 1866 Tax Rolls in Spencer, Owen Co., IN. On 24 March 1904 Wesley was appointed a member of the Rules Committee to the state Republican convention. in Spencer, Clay Twp., Owen Co., IN.6502 By 1907 Wesley was deceased. Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Owen Co., IN in December 1907 .6503

"Wesley Coffey, attorney at law, was born December 13, 1843* in Clay Township, Owen County. His parents, Albert and Sarah (Gooderight) [sic] [Goodnight] Coffey - the former a native of North Carolina and the latter of Kentucky - emigrated to Indiana from North Carolina about 1828. Four years later they came to Owen County, and located in Clay Township, on a farm where the mother now resides. The father died in October of 1838.

"Wesley is the elder of two children, and lived at home until 1861, when he enlisted in Company H, Fourteenth Indiana Volunteers, under Capt. J. H. Martin, and was in active service for two years. Then, on account of ill-health, he was put on detached service, sent to Frederick, Md., and remained there until the close of the war. He participated in the following battles: Rich Mountain, Cheat Mountain and battle of Winchester.

'At the close of the war, he returned home to Owen County, remained one year, after which he purchased a farm in Clay Township, where he remained two years. He then sold and went into the grocery business at Spencer with W. R. Stogsdil. About 1875, he sold his interest and went into the insurance business, and the study of the bar in Spencer.

"He was married in April, 1865, to Laura J. Howe, daughter of Amon P. and Harriet Howe, old settlers in Owen County. Mr. Coffey is a member of the A. F. & A. M., of the K. of P., of the Royal Arcanum, and the Grand Army of the Republic, and was for four years Justice of the Peace of Owen County. He is a public spirited citizen, and highly estemed [sic] by those [who] know him."

Coffey and Laura Josephine Howe6504 appeared in the census on 3 August 1870 in Washington Twp, Owen Co., IN.6505 On 11 June 1880 he and Laura were enumerated in the census at Spencer, Owen Co., IN.6506 They also appeared in the census on 2 June 1900 in Spencer, Owen Co., IN.6507 Laura Josephine Howe, daughter of Amon Price Howe and Harriet C. Thatcher, was born on 24 July 1843 in Indiana. She lived with her parents in Washington, Owen Co., IN on 4 August 1850. She lived with her parents in Clay Twp., Owen Co., IN on 18 June 1860. Laura appeared in the census on 22 April 1910 in Spencer, Owen Co., IN and, in6508 1920 in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN. By6509 1930 she was enumerated in San Gabriel, Los Angeles Co., CA.6510 Laura lived with children Hallie and Albert in 1939 and Laura died in Los Angeles Co., CA on 13 March 1940 and was buried at6511 San Gabriel Cemetery in San Gabriel, Los Angeles Co., CA in March 1940 .6512

Hallie H. Coffey was born on 14 January 1874 in Owen Co., IN.6513 She lived with her parents in Spencer, Owen Co., IN on 11 June 1880. Hallie lived with her mother in Spencer, Owen Co., IN on 22 April 1910, 2 June 1920 in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, and 5 April 1930 in San Gabriel, Los Angeles Co., CA. She resided alone at 709 E Hellman Ave. in Wilmar City, Los Angeles Co., CA in 1937 and 1939, and in 1941 with her brother Albert.6514 Hallie died on 13 December 1969 in Los Angeles Co., CA unmarried. Her burial place is unknown to me. 6515

Albert Price Coffey was born on 29 May 1876 in Owen Co., IN.6513 Albert lived with his mother in Spencer, Owen Co., IN on 22 April 1910, 2 June 1920 in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, and 5 April 1930 in San Gabriel, Los Angeles Co., CA. Albert lived with his sister Hallie at 709 E Hellman Ave. in Wilmar City, Los Angeles Co., CA in 1939 and He appeared in the census on 8 April 1940 in Los Angeles, San Gabriel Twp., CA.6516 1941.6517 Albert died unmarried and was buried at on 30 May 1946 at the age of 70 in Los Angeles Co., CA.
