Welborn Coffey and Sarah "Sallie" Cottrell were married on 2 January 1832 in Wilkes Co., NC.^{1601,1602,1603} They^{^{1601,1602,1603}} appeared in the census on 25 July 1850 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.¹⁶⁰⁴

It appears that John and Finly were twins; both were age 2 years in 1850 census. They^¹⁶⁰⁴ appeared in the census on 2 August 1860 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.¹⁶⁰⁵ Welborn and Sallie^¹⁶⁰⁵ appeared in the census on 30 July 1870 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.¹⁶⁰⁶ They^¹⁶⁰⁶ appeared in the census on 2 June 1880 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.¹⁶⁰⁷ Sarah "Sallie" Cottrell, daughter of William Wallace Cottrell and Lucy Day, was born on 1 May 1812 in Wilkes Co., NC. Sallie died on 25 March 1894 at the age of 81 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Rufus Baptist Church Cemetery in Mulberry Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.¹⁶⁰⁸

1697	iv.	James Grayson Coffey was born circa 1839 in North Carolina. James enlisted in the Co. F, 26th NC Inf. Regt. on 15 July 1861 at Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.¹⁶⁰⁹ James died at Davis Island, New York Harbor in New York on 24 August 1863. James Grayson Coffey b. in 1839, enlisted in Co. F., 26th NC Inf. on July 15, 1861 at Caldwell County, NC when he was 22 years old. On July 1, 1863 he was wounded in the left arm and captured at Gettysburg, Pa. On July 17, 1863 his left arm was amputated and he was hospitalized at Gettysburg, Pa until his transfer to Davis Island, NY Harbor where on Aug 24, 1863 he died from his wounds. His burial site is unknown to me!
