The Rev. Thomas H. Coffey, pastor of First Church of God of Mobile for the past four years, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 73.

Rev. Coffey, who resided in Mobile for the past 13 years, was a native of Granite Falls, N.C. Prior to moving to Mobile, he had served as pastor of First Church of God of Harlington, Texas, for eight years. He also held pastorial positions in Spruce Pine, N.C.; Hammond, La.; Oak Grove, Miss., and Lynchburg, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Frances J. Coffey of Mobile; a daughter, Connie Drain of Wagoner, Okla.; a son, Kent Coffey of Chicago; a sister, Annie Lee Hefner of Newport, N.C.; eight grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. The funeral is set Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
