Warrenton, Aug. 2.--Dr. and Mrs. Gideon Hunt Macon, of Warrenton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Stackhouse, and Thomas Stuart Coffey, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stuart Coffey, of Statesville. The wedding will take place in the Macon home here August 15.
Mary Stackhouse Macon, daughter of Gideon Hunt Macon and Annie Stackhouse, was born on 5 March 1920 in Warrenton, Warren Co., NC. Mary died in Valdese, Burke Co., NC on 14 March 1999 and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, Iredell Co., NC on 17 March 1999 .18116,18117

Mrs. Mary Macon Coffey, 79 of Hickory, N.C. and formerly of Statesville, N.C., died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in the Valdese General Hospital, Valdese, N.C., following a brief illness.

Mrs. Coffey was born March 5, 1920, in Warrenton, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Gideon Hunt Macon and Annie Stackhouse Macon. She attended Warrenton schools and Peace College, Raleigh, N.C. On August 15, 1942, she was married to Thomas Stuart Coffey, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 16, 1968. Mrs. Coffey was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville and was a charter member of the Toil & Tan Garden Club. Mrs. Coffey also belonged to a bridge club.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Stuart Coffey, III, and his wife, Geneva
of Morganton, N.C.; one daughter, Anne Macon Coffey, and her husband, E. Preston Rhyne, III of Hickory, N.C.; one grandson, Charles Stuart Coffey, Atlanta, Ga. One nephew and four nieces also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Douglas G. Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Holy Cross Room at Trinity Episcopal Church on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M.
