Service record shows that he deserted on Jun. 19, 1863, but returned and taken POW on Oct. 14, 1863 at Bristoe Station, VA. Confined Oct. 16, 1863, at Old Capitol Prison, Wash., DC. Transferred Oct. 27, 1863 to Point Lookout, MD. Took oath of Allegience on Jan. 29, 1864 and released on same date. Enlisted in Co. 1, 1st Inf. Regt VO on same date.
