Gas City - Irene J. Stephens, 76, 315 E.S. "F" St., died at noon Tuesday at home.

She was born in Kentucky to the late William R. "Rance" and Etna (Hayes) Coffey and was a longtime Gas City resident. She married Clyde Stephens on June 18, 1945. He survives.

Mrs. Stephens worked in the food service and personnel departments at Owens-Illinois glass factory, formerly of Gas City. She retired in 1971 after 18 years. She was an avid basketball fan and a research history buff.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Mike) Willis, Gas City, and Donna (Bob) Groat, Sevierville, Tenn. a sister, Lillian Anglin, Mount Vernon, Ky. three grandchildren Mark, Jama and Tara and six great-grandchildren..

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., with the Rev. Lewis O'Vell officiating. Burial is in Gardens of Memory cemetery, Huntington County.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Julian Irene Coffey and Clyde Burton Stephens were married on 18 June 1945 in Kentucky. Clyde Burton Stephens, son of John T. Stephens and Berta Todd, was born on 26 August 1928 in Madison Co., KY.46792 Clyde died in Indiana on 12 May 2006 and was buried at Gardens of Memory in Marion, Grant Co., IN in May 2006 .46793

GAS CITY - Clyde B. Stephens, 77, died at 7:17 p.m. Friday in Marion General Hospital.

He was born in Rockcastle Co. Ky. His parents, John T. and Berta (Todd) Stephens preceded him in death.

He retired in 1980 from Owens-Illinois Glass Factory in Gas City as a supervisor in the selecting department after 35 years of service. He married Irene Coffey on June 18, 1945, she preceded him in death on August 6, 2002, and they had been married 57 years. He had been a resident of Gas City since 1946.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Mike) Willis, Gas City; Donna (Bob) Groat, Sevierville, Tenn.; two brothers, Howard (Gertrude) Stephens, Mt. Vernon, Ky.; James (Helen) Stephens, Marion; two sisters, Vergie (Ernest)Cox, Marion; Alene Isaac, Lexington, Ky.; three grandchildren, Tara (Tom) Begley, Battle Creek, Mich.; Mark (Monique) Willis, Marion; Jama (Matt) Sandoval, Goodyear, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren.
