Rev. Carl W. Coffey was born on 13 February 1913 in Mayfield, Beckham Co., OK. Carl enlisted in the US Army on 24 March 1944 at Fort Sill, Comanche Co., OK.31123 Carl died on 12 July 2002 at the age of 89 in Idalou, Lubbock Co., TX and was buried at Buffalo Cemetery in Sayre, Beckham Co., OK.31124,31125,31126

IDALOU — Services for Carl W. Coffey, 89, of Idalou will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Idalou First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating and the Rev. Vestal Blakely assisting.

Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery in Sayre, Okla., under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

He died Friday, July 12, 2002.

He was born Feb. 13, 1913, in Mayfield, Okla. He married Syble Maple on Nov. 23, 1929, in Sweetwater, Okla. He ministered in churches in Oklahoma and Texas for 50 years. He attended Jacksonville Baptist College and received a doctor of divinity degree from Berean Christian College in Wichita, Kan., in 1978.

In Texas he ministered in churches at Mixon, Mount Pleasant, McAdoo, Amarillo, Wellington, Farwell, McLeod, Spur, Simpsonville, Aiken and Abernathy. In Oklahoma he ministered at churches in Burns Flat, Sayre and Buffalo. He conducted revivals in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Canada.

He was a member of the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge. He was a Army veteran of World War II and was a corporal in the infantry. He moved to Idalou from McAdoo in 1994.

A daughter, Laquetta Ozbun, died Aug. 14, 1986. Two grandchildren also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Joe of Burlington, Canada; a daughter, Carlene Mann of Idalou; three sisters, Pauline Lyons of Sayre, Okla., Lorene Cleves of Amarillo and Lois Whipkey of Fritch; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
