If you’re not familiar with DNA testing, here are some topics you might explore. (You can view them on line, or print them. Personally I prefer “print”!)

 

Parts 3 and 4 are not directly related to this y-DNA project. However our members often order additional tests to cover these. 

 

Mitochondrial DNA follows your female line, but it is difficult to use for genealogy. 

 

Autosomal DNA looks at your total DNA picture, looking for all your family lines. It might pick up a Coffey ancestor, but it has a limited range. It probably will only work if there is a tested person out there who is your third cousin or closer.

 

In 2017 I did an update review for the Coffey Cousins Clearinghouse convention. It covers some of the material in the “Basics”, but goes more into the geographical relationships between various Coffey groups.
