AUGUSTA, Ca., Sept. 7-John Bynum Coffey Sr., 60, died in a local hospital. He was a native of Watauga County, N.C., and had lived here for nine years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, a Mason and Shriner and Augusta Elks Lodge No. 205. He was president of Coffey Trainer Sales, Inc. here. 

Funeral services were held Sunday at Poteet Funeral Home. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Surviving are one son, J. B. Coffey, Jr. of West Columbia, S.C.; his mother, Mrs. N. O. Coffey of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Ogburn and Mrs. Virginia Burgess of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Wilson Coffey of Greensboro, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

John Bynum Coffey and Vera Luelle Hooks were married in 1926. They appeared in the census on 10 April 1930 in Morehead Twp., Guilford Co., NC.44692 Vera Luelle Hooks was born in August 1893 in South Carolina.

John Bynum Coffey and Caroline E. "Carrie" Yates were married after 1930. They appeared in the census on 8 April 1940 in Charleston, Kanawha Co., WV.44693 Caroline E. "Carrie" Yates, daughter of George Yates and Addie Pinkston, was born in 1903 in North Carolina. Caroline died in Georgia on 10 June 1958 and was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta, Richmond Co., GA on 12 June 1958 .44694,44695

Coffey - Entered into rest June 10, 1958 at a local imfirmary. Mrs. Carrie Yates Coffey, of 2526 Milledgeville Road, wife of Mr. J. B. Coffey Sr. Funeral services will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from Poteet's Chapel, Rev. E. A Gilliland officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. J. B. Coffey Claimed by Death

Mrs. J. B. Coffey Sr., 55, of 2526 Milledgeville Road., died Tuesday at a local infirmary following a four weeks illness.

Mrs. Coffey, co-owner of Coffey Trainer Sales, was born in Saulsbury, N.C., the daughter of the late George Yates and Addie Pinkston Yates. The former Miss Carrie Yates, she lived in Augusta for seven years.

She was a member of the Baptist Chrch and the Eastern Star in West Columbia, S.C.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. E. A. Gilliard officiating. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, J. B. Coffey, Jr. of West Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. George Belk of Chinagrove, N.C., Odell Yates of Fairlawn, N.J. and Jimmie Yates of Portsmouth, Va.
