Death - N. O. Coffey Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack in New York

N. O. Coffey, 60, of 431 West Gaston street, died suddenly Tuesday night in Port Henry, N. Y., following a heart attack. The body will arrive in Greensboro Thursday evening and will be taken to the Hanes Funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

Mr. and Mrs. Coffey, who made their home here with their daughter, Mrs. R. E. Burgess left Greensboro Sunday for a two weeks' vacation trip to points in New York and Canada and had proceeded as far as Port Henry when Mr. Coffey was stricken. Mr. and Mrs. Burgess and Mrs. Coffey are returning to Greensboro by motor, it is understood.

Mr. Coffey was a native of Boone, having been born August 27, 1877 but had made his home in Greensboro for a number of years, and was known and esteemed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

He leaves his wife, formerly Miss Carrie Norris of Boone; three sons, J. B. Coffey, Salisbury, and C. E. and H. W. Coffey, Greensboro and two daughters, Mrs. R. E. Burgess and Mrs. T. L. Ogburn, both of Greensboro: his mother, Mrs. W. L. Coffey, Lenoir; also three sisters and three brothers and 14 grandchildren.

Mrs. Carrie N. Coffey

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry West Market Street Chapel for Mrs. Carrie Norris Coffey, 88, of the Masonic and Eastern Star Home who died Thursday at Wesley Long Hospital. The Rev. Dr. Clay Madison of West Market Street Methodist Church officiated and burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
