551. Mary "Polly" Coffey was born on 9 July 1816 in North Carolina. Birthdate could be Jul. 19. She lived in Franklin Twp., Owen Co., IN on 5 June 1900.2312 Mary died in Owen Co., IN on 18 October 1909. Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Owen Co., IN in October 1909 .2313

Mary "Polly" Coffey and Anderson B. Mills were married on 28 April 1859 in Owen Co., IN. They appeared in the census on 12 July 1860 in Franklin Twp., Owen Co., IN.2314 They2314 appeared in the census on 4 August 1870 in Spencer, Owen Co., IN.2315 Polly and Anderson2315 appeared in the census on 11 June 1880 in Spencer, Owen Co., IN.2316 Anderson B. Mills2317, son of John Mills and Elizabeth Bays, was born on 29 July 1809 in Halifax Co., VA. Anderson died on 28 April 1888 at the age of 78 in Spencer, Owen Co., IN and was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Owen Co., IN.2318,2319

"Anderson B. Mills was born in Halifax County, Va., July 29, 1805. He was the fourth son and child of John and Elizabeth (Bays) Mills, natives of Virginia. The father is a farmer, and in 1830 came to Owen County, located in Franklin Township, four miles south of Spencer, and has since resided there.

Anderson was reared on a farm and received a good common school education in his native county. When twenty-three years of age, he came to Owen County, Ind., located in Franklin Township, where he farmed for some length of time. He is by trade a shoe-maker.

He was Coroner of Owen County for many years [resigned June 13, 1873] and filled the unexpired term of Thomas I. Wells (deceased) as Sheriff. He served as Supervisor of Franklin Township for seven years. He was married when young to Jane Thompson, a native of Virginia. She died in Owen County November 5, 1858. There were ten children - Sarah (deceased), Rebecca F., George W., William B., Mary J., John A., David T., Marie E., Charles and Nancy A. (deceased).

Mister Mills was married in the April following to Polly Coffey, daughter of James and Hannah Coffey. Mr. Mills has for many years been a member and Trustee of the Baptist Church. He is one of the most prominent members in the Democratic ranks, and cast his first vote for Jackson in Owen County in 1830. He is quite an influential and public-spirited citizen, as well as a leader in all public enterprises."
