Whisky Caused A Fight

Monticello, Ky., June 18 - Some time last night George Lair and Hardin Coffey, who it is said, were drinking, had an altercation at a brickyard near here. Lair cut Coffey four times with a knife. He also struck him in the mouth with a bottle and knocked some of his teeth out. Coffey was place in jail. Lair is still at large. He registered for the WWI draft on 12 September 1918 in Wayne Co., KY.²⁶⁴²² Hardin appeared in the census on 27 April 1940 in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY.²⁶⁴²³ Hardin died of on 16 April 1942, at age 59, in Wayne Co., KY and was buried at Ingram-Vickery-Goddard Cemetery in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY.^{26424,26425,26426,26427}

Lewis; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hardin and Lillie Coffey; one brother, Lewis Coffey; and four sisters, Zula Kidd, Hazel Martin, Lola Guffey, Eula Johnson, Lela Coffey, and Carrie Smith. He was a loving brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
