J. Floyd Brake Sr., 68, of Pleasant Plains died Saturday at his residence.

He was born May 29, 1927, in Connerville, Ind., the son of Homer and Leila Coffey Brake.

Mr. Brake was a member of Springfield Elks No. 158 and the Springfield Route 66 Cruisers.

Survivors: wife, Ann; four sons, James F. Brake Jr. of Tallula, Stephen L. and Johnny Brake, both of Springfield, and Tom Brake of New Berlin; two daughters, Kathy E. Morris of Makanda and Joan E. Greetham of Still Mountain, Ga.; three stepsons, Duane E. Walker of Indianapolis, Ind., and James E. and Gregory D. Walker, both of Springfield; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; stepmother, Jessie Carroll of Hardin; three brothers, Charles Milton Brake-Carroll of Pekin, David Lee Carroll of Bolivar, Mo., and Albert E. Carroll of Petersburg; and four sisters, L. June Sherry of Athens, Sherly [sic] M. Schafer of Petersburg, Lorraine Sabo of Salisbury and Pamela Sue Sprinkle of Mount Vernon.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens, the Rev. George Heineman officiating. Burial: West Cemetery, Athens.

Sgt. Leslie Brake

Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Sgt. Leslie Brake, 25, formerly of Springfield, a brother of Floyd Brake, of 1653 N. Twenty-first St., who died of extensive burns received in an auto-train collision Tuesday in Germany, where he was stationed with the Army. The body will be brought back to this country for burial.

Also among his survivors are two half-sisters, Mrs. June Cline and Shirley Brake; two half brothers, Leroy and Milton Brake; two stepsisters, Loraine and Parmela Sue Carroll, and two stepbrothers, Albert and David Lee Carroll, all of Salisbury.

Sgt. Leslie Brake

Funeral services for Sgt. Leslie Brake, 24, of the U. S. army stationed in Germany, formerly of Springfield, who died of burns received in an auto-train collision Oct. 19, in Germany, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mott & Son funeral home, Athens, with Rev. Theodore Dautenhahn officiating. Burial will be in West cemetery, Athens.

The body will be received tomorrow afternoon by the funeral home.

Sergeant Brake was born Jan. 22, 1930 in Kentucky, son of Homer Floyd and Lela Brake. He had served in Germany for five years.
