Earney Coffey, 78

Earney Coffey, Route 3, Waynesburg, died Friday, August 9, 1985 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after a long illness. He was 78 years old.

Born in Wayne County on Oct. 1, 1906, he waas the son of Burl and Camley Steele Coffey. He was a farmer and the widower of Eva Coffey.

Survivors include a son, Clarence E. Coffey of Somerset; two daughters, Joyce Mayfield of Somerset and Phyllis Wall of Waynesburg; three brothers, Leslie and Shaff Coffey, both of Indiana and Clarence Coffey of California; two sisters, Maymie Tuggle of Eubank and Dorothy Garrett of Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was August 12 at the Eubank Baptist Church with Rev. William "Dub" Henderson, Rev. Albert McKinney and Rev. Noah Broughton officiating. Burial was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset.

Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emma may have been previously married to a so far unidentified Harry Coffey.

Emma Lee Gregory, daughter of George Washington Gregory and Gemima Elizabeth Worley, was born on 25 September 1897 in Kentucky. She lived with her parents in Parmleysville, Wayne Co., KY on 21 June 1900. In this census, her birth year was given as Dec., 1896. She was the third of four children in the family this census. Emma died on 5 December 1986 at the age of 89 in Kentucky and was buried at Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY.26127,26128

Emma Lee shares a headstone with Burl but, a death date for her is not given.
