9500. William Wayt King Coffey was born on 16 June 1927 in Lyndhurst, Augusta Co., VA. William died of acute coronary insufficiency on 24 June 1986 at the age of 59 at home in Staunton, Independent City., VA and was buried at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA.28892,28893,28894

William Wayt King Coffey 59, of Rt. 4 Staunton, died Tuesday June 24, 1986 at his residence.

He was employed by Smith's Transfer Corp. in security and before that by Walter's Wholesale for 25 years. He was a member of VFW post 2216 and Olivet Presbyterian Church. He was an Army Veteran.

Surviving are three sons, a daughter and 5 grandchildren. His wife Merxine Foley Coffey died May 8, 1979.

A service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Richard L. Pollock. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Staunton VFW post 2216. The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:00 tonight at Hamrick Funeral Home.

He was the son of Ellis Coffey and Willie Dabney Bryant Coffey. 

William Wayt King Coffey and Merxine Foley were married on 1 December 1948 in Churchville, Augusta Co., VA.28895 Merxine Foley, daughter of James Henry Foley and Nellie Leona Gordon, was born on 18 February 1931 in Rockingham Co., VA. Merxine died of metastatic breast cancer on 8 May 1979 at the age of 48 at Kings' Daughters Hospital in Staunton, Independent City., VA and was buried at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA.28896,28897

Her given name has also been found spelled Maxine.
