Florine C. Coffey, 86, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007.

Born in Wilkesboro, N.C., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1944. She was a member of Parkview Church of God where she faithfully worshiped the Lord. Florine worked 18 years at Leggett Department Store in downtown Newport News and New Market North earning top sales awards multiple years running until retiring in 1989 to enjoy the company of her family and friends.

Mrs. Coffey is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Johnson of Hampton; three grandchildren, Richard, Kenneth and Theresa; and seven great- grandchildren, Craig, Kenny, Michael, Faith, Nathan, Jordan and Makenzie.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark S. Hambrick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 6 to 7 p.m. She will be laid to rest in N. Wilkesboro, N.C., beside her loving husband, Dick Coffey, her mother and father, Larkin and Lessie, and her loving sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Banner Wyatt.

In lieu of flowers, the family gracefully requests donations be made to the Parkview Church of God, Women's Ministry, in her name.

Florence "Florine" Coffey and Elmore Dick Coffey were married circa 1925. Elmore Dick Coffey was born on 6 March 1905 in North Carolina. Elmore died in Newport News, VA on 27 August 1970 and was buried at Mountlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in North Wilkesboro, Wilkes Co., NC in August 1970 .30426
