Minnie Thompson

Minnie Coffey Thompson, 95, of White Pine Drive, Granite Falls, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

She was born February 9, 1911 in Caldwell County to the late Sam C. and Josie Dellinger Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William L. Thompson; a son, Jason Thompson, three brothers, Mac, Boyd and Wilson Coffey; three sisters, Pauline Bell, Lydia Gragg and Alberta Jennings and a grandson, Steven H. Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include two sons, John T. Thompson of Hudson and Charles Thompson of Lenoir; two daughters, Ms. Linda Melton and Ms. Carolyn Hamby, both of Lenoir; and a sister, Mrs. Deatte Bolick of Lenoir; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 4 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church conducted by Rev. David Bean, Rev. Allen Younce and Dr. Marion Poythress. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. David Payne.

The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Coffey, Michael Kale, Scott Triplett, Keith Triplett, Brent Thompson and Sammy Coffey. Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandsons.

Memorial contributions will be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645.

Minnie Coffey and William L. Thompson were married on 22 September 1934 in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC.36363,36364 William L. William enlisted in the US Army on 12 November 1943 at Camp Croft, Spartanburg Co., SC.36365 William died on 2 December 1995 at the age of 81 at Caldwell County Hospice in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausolem in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC.36366


William Thompson

William L. Thompson, 81, of White Pine Drive, Granite Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 1995, at Caldwell County Hospice.

He was born Jan. 11, 1914 in Warren County to the late Joe and Ava Rivers Thompson.

Thompson was a retired driver from Caldwell Freight Lines and he attended Cornerstone Worship Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Coffey Thompson of the home; two sons, John Thomas Thompson of Hudson and Charles Thompson of Lenoir; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Carolyn) Hamby of Lenoir and Linda Thompson Melton of Morganton; two sisters, Lucy Coll? and Kathleen Height of Casti?; 12 grandchildren, four step grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is today at Cornerstone Worship Center at 2 p.m. with the Revs. L. J. Crump, Bob ?, and Allen Younce officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Brent, Steve, and Eric Thompson, Terry Kale, James Bass and Tommy Wilson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell County Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, N.C. 28635.

Linda Thompson was born on 19 December 1942 in Caldwell Co., NC. Linda died in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 11 November 2012 and was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 17 November 2012 .36369

Linda Thompson Melton, age 69, of Victoria Court, SE, Lenoir, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Lenoir HealthCare Center. She was born December 19, 1942 in Caldwell County to the late William L. Thompson and Minnie Coffey Thompson. 

Ms. Melton was a private duty Certified Nursing Assistant and was of the Pentecostal faith. 

Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Sonya Melton and Ms. Angela Melton, both of Conover; two brothers, John Thompson and wife Frankie of Hudson and Charles Thompson of Lenoir; one sister, Mrs. Carolyn Hamby and husband Charles of Lenoir; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Harvest Church conducted by Pastor Kevin Beard. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
