GRANITE FALLS - Mabel Christine Pitts, 72, of Kitty Bean Lane, Granite Falls, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at Valdese General Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Caldwell County to the late Andrew Jennings and Alberta Coffey Jennings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Rhoda (Sue) Dula of Granite Falls, Mrs. Trish Hoyle of Hickory and Ann Gutierrez of Rutherford College; three sisters, Peggy Robertson and Virginia Killian, both of Lenoir and Essie Crump of Hickory; three brothers, Bobby Jennings of California, Paul Jennings of Lenoir and Ronald Loudermelt; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Clifton Black and John Brashear officiating. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Suite 1, Asheville, N.C. 28801 or American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, N.C. 27607-6480. Bass-Smith Granite Funeral Service is assisting the Mabel Pitts family with arrangements.
