Nettie died on 20 December 2004 at the age of 90 at Valdese General Hospital in Valdese, Burke Co., NC and was buried at North Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery in Granite Falls, Caldwell Co., NC.36270

Nettie Miller

Nettie Coffey Miller, 90, of College Pines Nursing Center, formerly of Dogwood Vista, in Lenoir, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004 at Valdese General Hospital after a period of declining health.

She was born Sept. 22, 1914 in Watauga County to the late R. Zack Coffey and Cordelia Gragg Coffey. She was a retired employee of Bernhardt Furniture. Mrs. Miller was a member of North Catawba Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school there and also taught for many years at Union Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen R. Miller; a son, Dennis J. Miller; a granddaughter, Susan Miller; two sisters, Ida Coffey and Violet Teague; a brother, Guy E. Coffey.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jay H. (Joyce M.) Curtis of Hudson, Mrs. Ken (Rebecca M.) Craig of Lenoir, and Mrs. William H. (Gail M.) Clontz of Fredericksburg, Va.; five sons, Jimmy Miller and wife Sandra of Lenoir, Bobby O. Miller of Hobe Sound, Fla., J. Harold Miller and wife Dorothy of Lenoir, C. Edwin Miller and wife Revonda of Lenoir, and Mike Miller and wife Sue G. of Lenoir; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca N. Miller of Lenoir; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Elva C. Andrews of Marion, N.C.

Funeral service will be held today, Dec. 22, 2004 at 3 p.m. at North Catawba Baptist Church with the Rev. John Barnhardt and Rev. Sam Craven officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, Dec. 22, 2004 at the church and at other times at the home of Joyce and Jay Curtis or Rebecca and Ken Craig's home.

Nettie Coffey and Owen Roosevelt Miller were married on 26 October 1934 in Hudson Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.36271 They36271 appeared in the census on 30 April 1940 in Lovelady Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.36272 Owen Roosevelt Miller, son of David J. Miller and Rebecca Cloer, was born on 11 September 1904 in North Carolina. Owen died at Valdese General Hospital in Valdese, Lovelady Twp., Burke Co., NC on 12 July 1965 of a ruptured anterior cerebral artery and was buried at North Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 14 July 1965 .36273,36274
