GUY EDWARD COFFEY

Guy Edward Coffey, 77, of Dogwood Vista, Lenoir, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at the residence.

He was born June 3, 1925, in Avery County to the late Rubin Zachary and Cordelia Gragg Coffey. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Zuber and Ida Coffey, and a granddaughter.

He was a veteran of WWII, having served both in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He was retied from Bush Oldsmobile and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Hedy Coffey Buchanan of the home; two sons, Gary Coffey of Drexel and Ricky Coffey of Lenoir; two daughters, Mrs. Dr. James (Barbara) Head of Nashville, Tenn. and Mrs. Malone (Shirley) McNeely of Drexel; two sisters, Nettie Miller of Rutherford College and Elva Andrews of Marion; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The funeral is 1 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Conley Matlock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with veterans rites conducted by the Morganton Veterans Ceremonial Team.

The family will receive friends today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, and other times at the residence of Shirley McNeely, 211 Westwood Dr., Morganton.
