STUARTS DRAFT -- Mrs. Russell Coffey Brown, 86, of Route 2, Box 452, died Wednesday afternoon, (Oct. 31, 1990), at her home. She was born April 1, 1904 in Amherst County, a daughter of Frank A. and Minnie (Crawford) Coffey.

Mrs. Brown, a homemaker, taught school in Narrow Passage, Fort Mountain and Mill Creek in Nelson County. She also taught at Sherando, Stuarts Draft and Waynesboro and was a librarian at Stuarts Draft High School.

She helped organize and acted as president of the Three Ridge Garden Club in Stuarts Draft. She was a successful farmer and participated in many community and farm organizational activities. She was a life member of the Disabled American Veteran Ladies Auxiliary, Chapter No. 91 in Pinellas Park, Fla. She maintained her membership in Calvary United Methodist Church while she resided in Florida for the past 10 years where she attended the North Bay Community Church in Clearwater.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Brown; a foster son, William Lewis Bradley of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Mildred F. Cannon of Palmyra and Marian F. Weaver of Lexington; a brother, Vaden Coffey of Staunton; a sister, Mary Lou Layton of Montebello; two grandsons, John Stanley Weaver III of New London, Conn. and Donald Fauber Weaver of Waynesboro; a granddaughter, Patti C. Parsons of Tempe, Ariz.; four great- grandchildren, Jennifer and Diana Weaver, of New London, Conn. and Tracy and Amanda Weaver of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald G. Fauber, in 1973. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elva C. Coffey, and by two brothers, Frank Homer and Henry Morris Coffey.

A service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery by Dr. Floyd J. Wingfield. Honorary pallbearers will be James Fauber, Frank Nolen, Elmer Fitzgerald, Maxie Seaman, Clarence Ridgeway, Dr. John Forbes, Rudy Nagy, Clinton Martin, William A. Brooks, G.B. Huff, Earl Kindig and friends of Mrs. Brown.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Friday evening in McDow Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 922 Waynesboro, Va. 22980.

Russel R. Coffey and Donald Gordon Fauber were married circa 1922 in Virginia. They appeared in the census on 21 April 1930 in Massies Mill, Nelson Co, VA.42509 They42509 appeared in the census on 9 April 1940 in Stuarts Draft, South River Dist., Augusta Co., VA.42510 Donald Gordon Fauber, son of Hampton Hill Fauber and Rose Virginia Robertson, was born on 24 February 1898 in Virginia. He registered for the WWI draft on 12 September 1918 in Montebello, Nelson Co., VA.42511 He lived with his parents in Massies Mill, Nelson Co, VA on 9 January 1920. Donald died in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA on 3 July 1973 and was buried at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA in July 1973 .42512
