Connie was born April 30, 1933, in Charleston. She was preceded in death by her parents Fletcher and Dorothy Coffey; and stepmother, Rue Coffey. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl; son-in-law, Nelson Henderson; and grandchildren, Julia and Max Henderson of Lake City, Fla.; sister, Winnie Combs of Nitro; brothers, Garrett of Cross Lanes and Leland of Hurricane, W.Va.; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Connie graduated from Charleston High School in 1951, was a longtime employee of C&P Telephone Co. and transferred to West Palm Beach, Fla., in 1960. She retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co. after 35 years of service in Florida. Connie was a Christian; a warm, caring and giving person, always ready to help her friends and neighbors. As a child, Connie and other children, helped to successfully spearhead an effort to build a neighborhood church, Sunset Presbyterian Church on Capitol Hill in Charleston. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 13, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4601 Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, with arrangements by Tillman Funeral Home of West Palm Beach, Fla.
