Wilbur Vernon Humphries, 91, of Buena Vista, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2005. He was born on April 22, 1914, a son of Mabel Coffey Humphries and Emmett B. Humphries. On December 23, 1939, he married Mabel N. Humphries, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters and their husbands, Bunny and Charles Richeson and Midge and Stanley Craun; two granddaughters and their husbands, Danby and Dave Paterson, Carey and Robert Twyman; and three great-grandchildren, Gunnar Michael Paterson, Zachary Edward Paterson and Riley Marie Twyman. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and eight brothers and sisters. Mr. Humphries was a past member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad and was a lifelong member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church. He served in the Shore Patrol in World War II. He also served as a Capitol Policeman in Washington, D.C. in the 1960's. A celebration of his life will be held at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2005. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.

Wilbur Vernon Humphries and Mable Dolly Neese were married on 23 December 1939 in Buena Vista, Independent City, VA.42738 Mable Dolly Neese, daughter of Ben Frank Neese and Annie Marie Riley, was born on 10 September 1918 in Virginia. Mable died in Virginia on 16 July 2007 and was buried at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista, Independent City, VA on 21 July 2007 .42739,42740

Mabel Neice Humphries, 88, of Buena Vista, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2007. She was born on September 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Annie Marie Riley Neice and Benjamin Franklin Neice. On December 23, 1939 she married Wilbur Vernon Humphries, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2005. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlie and Bunny Humphries Richeson of BelAir, Md. and Midge and Stanley Craun of Weyers Cave, Va.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Danby and Dave Paterson and Carey and Robert Twyman; and three great-grandchildren, Gunnar Michael Paterson, Zachary Edward Paterson and Riley Marie Twyman. She is also survived by two sisters; Sarah Tomlinson and Eula Ruff; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mrs. Humphries retired from Reeves Brothers in Buena Vista in 1983. She had been a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church since the early 1940's and was a member of the Star Makers Sunday School Class. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2007. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Service in Buena Vista.
