9455. Harry Scott Coffey Jr. was born on 13 December 1923 in Rockingham Co., VA.²⁸⁸¹² He lived with his parents in Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., VA on 7 April 1930. Harry died at The Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA on 6 April 1986 of acute renal failure and his remains were cremated. Disposition of ashes not known to me. ^{28813,28814,28815}

"Harry (Kit) Scott Coffey, Jr., LtCmdr. U.S.N. (Ret), died in a Portsmouth hospital, Sunday, April. 6, 1986 following an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Williams Coffey; three daughters, Julia Catherine Coffey of Plant City, FL; Laura Coffey Nielsen of Norfolk; Christi Camille Coffey of Cleveland, OH; a son, John Scott Coffey of Los Angeles, CA; a granddaughter, Noel Nielsen; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Reese Hazel of Scottsdale, AZ; Mrs. Louise Smith of Bedford, VA; a brother, Rev. John H. Coffey of Richmond; and an aunt, Mrs. Ruby C. Black of Staunton, VA. He was an active member of the Old Dominion University Alumni Association and a member of Park Place United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at their home, 206 Maycox Ave., Norfolk, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 11-13, from 3 until 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harry Scott and Julia Durham Coffey Scholarship Fund, P.O. Staunton -- Miss Jean Williams, of Union City, Tenn., and Ensign Harry Scott Coffey, Jr., son of the Rev. Dr. Harry S. Coffey, formerly of Augusta County, were married Wednesday evening, September 26, at 7 o'clock in the post chapel at Pensacola Air Base. The Rev. Dr. Coffey officiated at his son's wedding.
