Ruth A. Livingston

Mrs. Ruth A. Livingston, who celebrated her 90th birthday Thursday, died Friday in Portland. She was the widow of the late William Nathan Livingston and resided at 2624 S. E. Division street.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the J. P. Finley & Son funeral home, followed by interment at Lincoln Memorial Park. Rev. Myron C. Cole will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Livingston was born in Spencer, Ind., December 23, 1860, and came to Portland in 1890. She was an active member of the First Christian church.

Survivors include four sons, Harry C., Glen E., Frank W. and Wallace N. Livingston, all of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sadler and Mrs. Myrtle Adderley, both of Indiana, and four grandchildren.

Livingston--Sept. 3. William Nathan of 2624 SE Division st., husband of Altazara Ruth Livingston, father of Harry C., Glen E., Frank W. and Wallace N. Livingston of Portland; brother of Mrs. Cora East, Worthington, Ind.; Mrs. Winnie Rumple, Bloomington, Ind.; Mrs. Ada Secrest, Worthington; Mrs. Emma Goodman, Terre Haute, Ind.; John E. Livingston, White Hall, Ind.; 4 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1 PM, in Finley's Morninglight Chapel, SW Montgomery at 4th. Friends invited. Commitment Lincoln Memorial Park.

"William N. Livingston was born in Clay Township, Owen Co., Ind., August 21, 1860. His parents, Nathan F. and Elizabeth (Neill) Livingston, natives of Virginia and Indiana respectively, were married in Greene County, Ind., in 1857, and located on a farm, where they remained for a number of years, and thence came to Owen County. They then settled in White Hall, Clay Township, where they sold dry goods for some time. At present they reside nine miles southeast of Spencer, on a farm in Clay Township. William N. Livingston is the second son and third child in family, as was reared and educated in his native township. When nineteen years of age, he was employed by F. G. White as a member of his band and orchestra. He traveled with him for three years. In July, 1883, Mr. Livingston went into the grocery business, in partnership with W. S. Coffey, in Martinsville, where at present they are doing a successful business. In October, 1882, he was married to Ruth Coffey, a daughter of Wiley and Harriet Coffey, natives of Indiana, and old pioneers of Owen County. Mr. Livingston is politically a Democrat."
