Ruth Church

Ruth Ann Crump Church, 86, of Clearfield Place, SW, Lenoir, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Lenoir Health Care Center.

She was born August 8, 1925 in Avery County to the late Dallas and Pearl Coffey Crump. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Emory Church; infant daughter, Bennie Ruth Church; grandson, Bryan Zion; granddaughter, Tammy Bush; brother, Leonard J. Crump; and sisters, Earlene Hicks, Myrtle Hicks, Zada Atkins and Gail Keener.

Mrs. Church was retired from Bernhardt Furniture Industries. She was a member of Cornerstone Covenant Church in Hudson, where she was actively involved in all facets of the church.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny Ben Church and Mike Church and wife Deborah, both of Lenoir and Kenneth Church and wife Linda of Hudson; two daughters, Patsy Richards of Lenoir and Judy Church Green of Hudson; two brothers, John F. Crump and wife Coma and Dallas Wayne Crump, both of Lenoir; one sister, Helma Jean “Bood” Prestwood of Lenoir; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Freddie Stapleton. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Benjamin died of acute peritonitis on 19 December 1962 at the age of 40 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, Lower Creek Twp., Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Globe Baptist Church Cemetery in Globe, Caldwell Co., NC on 21 December 1962.48347,48348,48349
