Alvin Stuart Coffey, 85, of Madison Heights, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was the loving husband of Marie Chumbley Coffey for 56 years. Born June 8, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late Percy S. Coffey and Blanch Ricketts Coffey. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Coffey; and a sister, Marie Cavanaugh. 

Alvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired service representative with Otis Elevator Company with 42 years of service. He was a member of Union Christian Church. 

A graveside service was conducted Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Fort Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. George Harris. 

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the University of Virginia Dialysis Center in Lynchburg for their loving care and support.
