Claude Keever Coffey, 80, of Friendly Acres Dr., Winston-Salem, died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston- Salem.

He was born in Avery County April 2, 1927, the son of the late Parris Coffey and Annie Lee Delinger Coffey. He was a Commissary Manager and a mechanic and maintenance worker for Berean Baptist Church, where he was a member. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pennell Coffey of the home; one son, Ricky Coffey of King; one daughter, Susan Michele Parks of Clemons; three brothers, Herbert Maltba of Watertown, New York, Raymond Maltba of Rochester, New York, and Donald Maltba of Hensen, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Jason Lee Coffey, Christopher Travis Coffey, and Trey Parks.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Conley officiating. Burial followed in the Taylorsville City Cemetery with military rites provided by D.A.V. Post 10,000 of Hiddenite and D.A.V. Post 5466 of Taylorsville. Claude Keever Coffey and Barbara Ann "Bobbi" Pennell were married. Barbara Ann "Bobbi" Pennell, daughter of Mack Lee Pennell and Clara Orrell, was born on 23 February 1936 in Forsyth Co., NC. Bobbi died at home in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC on 29 March 2012 and was buried at Taylorsville City Cemetery in Taylorsville, Alexander Co., NC on 1 April 2012 .45373

Barbara “Bobbi” Ann Pennell Coffey, age 76 of 309 Friendly Acres Dr., Winston Salem, formerly of Taylorsville, went home to be with our Lord, Thursday March 29, 2012 at her home, after a extended illness. She was born February 23, 1936 in Forsyth County to the late Mack Lee Pennell, Sr. and Clara Orrell Pennell.

Mrs. Coffey attended Rochester University (Rochester, NC), and is a graduate of Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem. She was the beloved wife 52 wonderful years and honeymooned in Niagra Falls, Canada with the late Claude Keever Coffey, who has been waiting in heaven for her since November 4, 2007. They went to live in Rochester, NY for 10 years then Buffalo, NY, and finally back home to NC in Winston-Salem in 1973. She was a homemaker, stay-at-home mother, and “Nanna” to the many children she took care of over the years in her home. She was loved by many, and will be missed by us all. She was very active in church until her health failed her. Her favorite subject was “JESUS”, and she loved knocking on doors telling everyone about Jesus. She was also a member of Berean Baptist Church in Winston Salem. She was a Sunday School teacher for 37 years.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother in law, Charlie Edwards; and nephew, Charlie Edwards, Jr.;

She is survived by a son, Ricky Lee Coffey of King; a daughter, Susan Michele Coffey-Parks of Winston Salem; a brother, Mack Pennell, Jr. and wife Ardith of Statesville; two sisters, Betty Lou Edwards of Charlotte, Mary Rose Ellis and husband Bill of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Jason Coffey and wife Tina, Travis Coffey and wife Tammy and Trey Parks; a great grandchild, Jadyn Coffey; six nephews and nieces, Lynn, Karen, Martha, Paul, Roxanne and Dewey, many grand-nephews and grand-nieces; great-grand-nephews and great-grand-nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday April 1, 2012 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dean Thomason and Pastor John Moxley will officiate. The burial will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00pm prior to the service at Chapman Funeral Home.
