NB Baptist Church Member Dies At Age 77

Freddie Lee Humphries, 77, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went quietly home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, February 13, 2012.

Freddie was born December 20, 1934 in Buena Vista, VA, the son of the late Isaac and Cecil Tomlinson Humphries of Buena Vista.

Left to cherish his memory is Shirley Coffey Humphries, his loving wife of 56 years; three children, Pamela Humphries Bell, Reginald Humphries, Selena Humphries and fiance, Jason Tyree: and five grandchildren Samantha Gibson, fiance, Jackie (Jr) Lawwill, Jason Bell, Jessica Humphries Reynolds and husband, Jeffrey, Haley and Kaley Humphries; siblings Mary H. Buchanan of Lexington, Isaac (Ike) Humphries, Jr, and Charles R. (Bobby) Humphries, both of Buena Vista; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and extended families.

Freddie retired from H. A. Siler Trucking after 20 years of dedicated service.

He was a member of Natural Bridge Baptist Church.

His favorite pasttime was camping and family get-togethers. His pastor, Randy Smith, will lead us in a celebration of his life at the Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 3 p.m.

A visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. before the service. Burial will be at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Natural Bridge Baptist Church, 36 Bell Tower Lane, Natural Bridge, VA, 24578; Natural Bridge Volunteer Rescue Squad, 5705 S Lee Hwy, Natural Bridge, VA 24578 or Glasgow Rescue Squad, P.O. The family would like to thank the many acts of kindness shown throughout his illness and the loving care he received from the staff of Blue Ridge Cancer Center, Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Roanoke Carilion Hospital, Carilion Home Care Services Lexington, Rockbridge Area Hospice and the volunteers from both local rescue squads.

Pamela Kaye Humphries was born on 16 October 1958 in Virginia. Pamela died in Putnam Co., WV on 6 May 2012 and was buried at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington, VA on 11 May 2012 .

Pamela Kaye Humphries Bell, 53, of Salem, entered into her eternal home on Sunday, May 6, 2012, as a result of a motorcycle accident in Putnam County, W.Va. Riding her beloved Harley Davidson, she was returning home from a weekend trip to Ohio with her friend, Paul Webster. Born, October 16, 1958, she was the daughter of Shirley Coffey Humphries and the recently deceased Freddie Lee Humphries.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Jason Allen Bell; brother, Reginald Humphries; sister, Selena Humphries; nieces, Samantha Gibson and her fiance, Jackie (Jr.) Lawwill, Jessica Reynolds and her husband Jeffrey, and Haley and Kaley Humphries with whom she had an especially close relationship. She is also survived by her former husband, Larry Bell, and his mother, Snowa Lockhart and her husband Paul, father, Frank Bell and his wife Ginger, brother, Gary and his wife Ginny, sisters, Vanessa Sublette and Barbara Palmer and her husband Bobby. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Of special mention is one very special aunt, Betty Funkhouser.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfred and Mamie Coffey and Isaac and Cecil Humphries.

Pam was a 1977 graduate of Natural Bridge High School. She worked for the United States Postal Service in Salem for over 25 years, and was a sales representative for Celebrating Home. She was an active member of the Fellowship Community Church, where she belonged to the Motorcycle Ministry and Friends for Christ. She was a member of the Roanoke Valley Harley Owners Group. A generous, loving and faithful person, with a beautiful smile, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, 714 S. Main St., Lexington. A service celebrating her life will be held at Harrison's chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, with Pastor Ken Nienke of Fellowship Community Church and Pastor Randy Smith of Natural Bridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
