Professed faith in Christ in the year 1909 and joined the church at Paw Paw Grove where he lived a faithful member until death. He was married to Orlena Jarnigan in the year 1911. To this union was born eight children, five girls and three boys. Three children and father, mother and three brothers preceded him to Heaven. He was ordained a minister of the Gospel and loved his church. Dear Brother Shockley was always at the church when possible, standing for the upbuilding [sic] of the cause. We all miss him for he was dearly loved by all. He leaves a wife, five children, three brothers, two sisters, step-mother and five half-brothers and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss, but their loss is his eternal gain. Sleep on Brother Shockley, until we meet where we will never part. Written by Rev. James Ogan, Rev. Jesse Greene and Rev. McKinley Reed.
