Booker Shockley, son of Eprim and Creta Shockley, was born Oct. 24, 1857, died Oct. 6, 1939, professed faith in Christ at the age of 28, and joined the M. E. Church, and in July, 1919, he joined the Baptist Church at Paw Paw Grove. He later moved his membership to Pleasant Valley, then back to Paw Paw Grove, where he remained a faithful member till death. He was married to Hannah, again to this union, sever children was born. In November 1897, she was married to Melvinia Helton, to this union severl children were born. First wife and two children preceded him in death. He bore his suffering with patience and often talked of his eternal home. He leaves wife and 12 children. We will meet again. A Son, Clay. [The year of death is probably incorrect. The Association did not meet until Aug. 30, 1939, about 2 months before his death. Year of death on his headstone is blocked by flowers but, memorial reports year of death as 1938.]

Melvina Helton was born on 2 November 1877 in Tennessee. Melvina died in Tennessee on 6 December 1975 and was buried at Cook Cemetery in Sneedville, Hancock Co., TN in December 1975 .22589

Major Shockley, son of Booker and Melvina Shockley, was born June 18, 1914, age 27 years, 6 months, 6 days. He professed faith in Christ at the age of fifteen and joined the church at Pleasant Valley; later moved his membership to Paw Paw Grove, where he remained a faithful member until his death. Father and brother preceded him in death. He leaves mother, five brothers, four half brothers and two half sisters and a host of friends to mourn their loss, but their loss is his eternal gain.
