Earl Massie “Dunebug“ Coffey, Jr., 55 , of Waynesboro passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Augusta Health. He was born in Waynesboro on July 12, 1960, a son of the late Earl Massie, Sr. and Helen Esther Zimmerman Coffey.Earl was the owner and operator of E. & W. Auto Sales. He also was an avid drag car race driver and fan; his face would be one of the many on the track or in the stands at Eastside Speedway. In addition to his love of cars and drag racers, Earl greatly enjoyed camping, spending time at the beach with his family, and spoiling his beloved granddaughters.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Massie Coffey, Sr.; sister, Pamela Jean Coffey Brown, and step mother, Betty Jean Coffey. Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Donna M. Brown-Coffey; son, Jamie Brown and wife, Amanda; daughter, Lindsay Brown and boyfriend, Jesse Ferrell; five granddaughters, Hailey, Rylie, and Carlee Brown, Lilly and Isabell Ferrell; two brothers, Garland Daniel Coffey and wife, Diane L., and Earl David “Doodie” Coffey and wife, Joyce; sister, Christina McLaughlin and husband, Eric; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved friends. Earl also leaves behind his treasured four legged friend, Lucie.A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Donald Quick, Isaac Rader, David Coffey, Danny Painter, Eric Day and Steve Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Brown, Kenny Brown, and Randy Fitzgerald.
