Marvin wrote that this couple moved to Sangamon Co. in 1829 along with Thomas' parents.

Thomas was probably the Thomas Coffey who served as a private in Capt. James Hall's company during the Black Hawk War.

Thomas Coffey and Kissiah Varnier were married on 15 September 1820 in Gallatin Co., IL.³⁸³⁶ Kissiah Varnier was born about 1810 in Virginia. She appeared in the census on 20 November 1850 in Camden Co., MO.³⁸³⁷ She appeared in the census on 25 June 1860 in Camden Co., MO.³⁸³⁸

Thomas Coffey and Kissiah Varnier had the following children:
