Francis died at Potomac Hospital in Prince William Co., VA on 15 June 1974 and was buried at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria City, VA on 20 June 1974 .29254

Francis Coffey, 77, Dies; Planner, Bank Founder

Francis Marion Coffey, 77, retired chairman of the board and founder of the State Bank of Prince William and a former member and chairman of the Northern Virginia Regional Planning Commission, died Saturday in Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va., after a long illness. He lived on Cardinal Drive in Woodbridge.

A native of Nelson County, Va., Mr. Coffey served in the Army in 1917 and 1918.

He was one of the first members to be appointed to the planning commission of Prince William County in the early 1950s after the commission was created and was with the commission until 1971

In 1967, he was appointed as the representative from the Neabsco District on the county board of supervisors after reapportionment of representation of the board. He served one year until the next election.

Mr. Coffey was the original developer in 1963 of Lake Montclair, a planned residential community still in progress in Prince William County.

Mr. Coffey leaves his wife, Clarinda; two daughters, Elizabeth MacDonald of Bordontown, N. J., and Marie Moore of Houston; a son, Francis M. Jr., of Pleasant Ridge, Mich.; a brothers, Watson, and a sister, Nannie McGrady, both of Washington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Cunningham-Mountcastle Funeral Home in Woodbridge. Burial will be in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Potomac Hospital.

Francis Marion Coffey and Clarinda M. were married. Clarinda M. was born in 1908. Clarinda died in 1986 and was buried at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria City, VA in 1986 .29255
