WAYNESBORO ? Maxie Randolph Coffey, 72, of 438 Sandy Ridge Road passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at his residence. Born Feb. 9, 1936, in Nelson County, he was a son of the late Hansford Clarence and Sarah Houff Coffey.

He was a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church. He was a retired painter and an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph David Coffey; two sisters, Lucy Eavey and Betty Russell; and a grandson, Gregory Coffey. Survivors include three sons, Maxie R. Coffey Jr. and Michael W. Coffey, both of Waynesboro, and Hansford L. Coffey of Crimora; a sister, Gladys Colvin of Waynesboro; and three grandchildren, Allen and Sara Coffey and Hansford Coffey Jr.

At his request, the body will be cremated, and there will be no visitation or services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
