Mrs. Carol Banner Coffey, 93, of 8478 Valley Blvd., Blowing Rock, died Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Blowing Rock Hospital.

Mrs. Coffey was born April 12, 1918, in Avery County, a daughter of the late Leppo and Missouri Carroll Banner. She was the widow of Delmas Paul Coffey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blowing Rock and a retired elementary school teacher.

Mrs. Coffey is survived by two sons, Lewis Coffey and wife, Joy, of Boone, Albert Coffey and wife, Susan, of Wake Forest; two grandsons, Hunter Coffey and wife, Gina, of Boone, Heath Coffey and wife, Christina, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Celia Williams and husband, Tony, of Greenville, North Carolina; a great-granddaughter, Annelise Coffey of Boone; three great-grandsons, Anders Coffey of Boone, and Bryson and Spencer Williams, both of Greenville, North Carolina; and a brother, Jack Banner of Newland. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, father and mother, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Haga, Fannie Burleson and Ruby McComic; three brothers, Ernest, Edward, and Russell Banner; and a half-brother, Oscar Banner.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Blowing Rock. Officiating will be the Rev. Rusty Guenther and the Rev. Michael Gragg. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Service.
