893. Rice Coffey was born circa 1802. Rice enlisted in Co. A, 29th NC Inf. Regiment, CSA on 17 June 1861 at Cherokee Co., NC. He was mustered out of the service in North Carolina on 28 June 1862³⁷¹⁹ He appeared in the census on 17 August 1870 in Hayesville, Clay Co., NC.³⁷²⁰

Rice Coffey and Dorotha Jane Medaris were married. They appeared in the census on 1 June 1850 in Cherokee Co., NC.³⁷²¹ They^³⁷²¹ appeared in the census on 26 June 1860 in Towns Co., GA.³⁷²² Dorotha Jane Medaris³⁷²³, daughter of William H. Medaris and Susanna Nicholson, was born circa 1804 in Brasstown, Clay Co., NC.³⁷²⁴

Her first name has only been seen on one death record and could be spelled incorrectly. She always seemed to go by Jane.
