Ellen was a widow by 1869, see notes with her husband. The 1910 census says she had two children, one still living (that would be Gardner Abner Teele). So she must have lost another child as an infant? (There is a record of a “Gardner Alexander Teele” born 1868 in Waltham. Maybe that should have been “Gardner Abner”, or maybe he was a twin of Gardner Abner?

1900 CENSUS, WALTHAM, MIDDLESEX, MA: Ellen M Brown, born May 1833, is with husband John H Brown, born Apr 1829 in Scotland. They have been married 13 years.

1910 CENSUS, WALTHAM, MIDDLESEX, MA: Ellen M Brown, age 78, and John Brown, age 80, are lodgers, along with 15 other people, in the household of Thomas H Muldoon (age 16!). Ellen has had 2 children, one still living.

1912 DEATH CERTIFICATE FOR JOHN HARPER BROWN:
John Brown died 23 Oct 1912 of cerebral hemorrhage. Buried in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Information provided by “Mrs. Brown”, suggesting that Ellen is still alive.
