Wiley Coffey, Sr.

Wiley Earl Coffey, Sr., 69, of 423 Green Street died Thursday at Watauga County Hospital.

The funeral was held at Kelley Memorial Chapel conducted by the Rev. Fritz Hemphill and the Rev. Eugene Byrd. Burial was in the Catawba Memorial Park at Hickory.

Mr. Coffey was born in Caldwell County to Reubin F. and Flora Hollifield Coffey and was a former resident of Hickory and Charlotte. he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a retired shipping clerk for the Detroit Mold Engineering Co of Detroit, Mich.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna S. Coffey; three sons, Lt. Comm. Wiley E. Coffey, Jr. of the Navy in Norfolk, Va., Kenneth A. Coffey of Ft. Lauderdate, Fla., and the Rev. Dean Coffey of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Ransom Harmon of Rt. 8, Lenoir; a brother J. Meritt Coffey of Blowing Rock; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Wiley Earl Coffey Sr. and Blanche Shoemake were married on 8 July 1922 in Watauga Co., NC.35857 Blanche Shoemake was born on 6 January 1908 in North Carolina. Blanche died at Crossnore Memorial Hospital in Crossnore, Avery Co., NC on 17 October 1978 and was buried at White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 20 October 1978 .35858

Mrs. Blanche S. Berry

Boone - Mrs. Blanche Shoemake Berry, 72, or Rt. 4 (Greenway Village) died Tueasday at Crossnore Hospital in Crossnore.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Advent Baptist Church with the Rev. Murray Coffey and the Rev. Roscoe Greene officiating. Burial will be in White Springs Cemetery.

Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Lorene Parrish of Headland, Ala., Mrs. Jena Trivette of Charlotte, Mrs. Verdola Coffey of Boone; son, Sterling R. Berry of Greensboro; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Reine-Sturdivant Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today.

Edna died on 31 August 1980 at the age of 76 in Shelby, Cleveland Co., NC and was buried at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC.35863,35864
