Third Generation

16. Reuben Coffey49,50,51 was born on 7 March 1742 in Essex Co., VA. Reuben died in Wilkes Co., NC in 1825.52,53

Reuben has been confused with his nephew Reuben, son of James. The Reuben son of John and Jane married Sally Scott, probably in Albemarle Co. He was not in the Revolutionary War (as far as we know), and moved to Burke Co., NC by 1778. He and Sally were in the Globe community on the St. John's River (now Caldwell Co.) where he died in 1818. Sally died in Oct. 1837.

Marvin Coffey wrote that the children of Reuben and Sally are not entirely agreed upon.

Reuben and Sarah were married before 1772, probably in Albemarle Co., VA. Sarah "Sally" Scott was born circa 1750 in Albemarle Co., VA.54 Sarah died in Burke Co., NC in October 1837.

In his book, Marvin Coffey indicated that he was not certain that Sally belonged to this family. Marvin is also the source for Sally's marriage to Samuel Curtis. However, in his supplement he wrote that Sally married Nathan Green of Ashe Co., NC and later moved to Jefferson Co., TN.
